Books I Read in 2014.

Well in 2014 I managed to read well over my goal of one book a week, in total you'll see below I managed to read 84 books.  OK I guess some of them weren't very long books and some were very long, so it pretty much evens out.
As you go down this list you'll see that I've read quite a few different types of books from chick lit, vampires/witches, fantasy, mystery/crime to post apocalyptic.  I think I ended reading a lot of post apocalyptic books because I'd been watching and still watch programs like The Walking Dead, The 100 and Under The Dome, and have on my Amazon Watch list programs such as Eureka, Jericho, Defiance to name a few still left to watch or in the case of some it's re watch.

Do You Keep a Record of the Books You Read?

As you already know I make a list each year of every book I read and it got me thinking about how other people record the books they read and if they do that.

When I originally started to keep a record of the books I was reading I searched the web to find if there were any specific books that you could fill in or if it was just a case of buying a notebook. When I came across this great little website which suits me down to the ground as it's BOOK GEEKS HEAVEN!!!!!! The Literary Gift Company and if you love books like I love books you'll just want everything on their website.

They also had exactly what I was looking for "What I Read" mini journal.
I've used these for a couple of years but I got that I didn't want to write about my thought on each book I wrote. I also didn't use some of the pages that were dedicated to lists like: quotes to remember, books I want to read, recommended reading, stories I want to share and lastly books I want to write. To me this is dead space in the little book but then again for other people I know it'll be ideal.  They also have a few quotes in them too that have made me laugh. This quote is in my journal pictured below, "I read part of it all the way through" - Sam Goldwyn.

As you can see it's been used a lot and the photo below that actually shows a couple of my journal pages.

So for the last couple of years well since the beginning of 2014 I've been using a note book where I list to following:

  • Name of Book
  • Author
  • Date Completed
  • Book/Ebook
  • Borrowed
Your probably wondering why I put borrowed, book & Ebook?  I always put borrowed because each month I'm able to borrow one book from the Kindle Lending Library (in the past I've searched and searched on my kindle to find a book and guess what I'd borrowed it, lesson learned).  Also I've had a similar thing happen, thinking the book I read was on my kindle when it was a traditional book. So now all I need to do is look at my notebook and it tells me.

Here is a photo of the cover I made for my notebook and also a photo of the inside.

Well I guess now that you can see both types together that the little journal looks nicer than my note book (and will defiantly look better on my bookshelf), so maybe around the New Year I'll treat myself to a new journal. Then that makes me think will I transfer my reading list out of the notebook and in to the journal??? Knowing me I bet I do..

Oh you've also got a glimpse of what I'm reading at the moment too.

Not that I'm OCD or anything but I also have a spread sheet with the same list and other lists that I'll share with you at a later date. I mean in all fairness how else am I to keep track of my books?

Until next time.

I have to admit I love books about vampires, witches, magic etc.  I do also read a bit of chick lit as every now and then even I need a bit of a break from the vampires.
What are your favourite types of books? Sifi, Fantasy, Drama, Action & Adventure, Mystery, Horror, Romance or any other type of books I've not mentioned.
